This Semi- Detached Stone House – Designed for Al-Fresco Living in Proastio

Proastio  is an agricultural village just 4 kilometres above the picturesque coastal resort of Kardamyli, here you will find  this semi detached stone house on the outskirts of the village, it is in  a quite location with only the morning roosters, and the jingling of the goat’s bells , as they head out for the day to wake you from your peaceful sleep.

A covered balcony from the lounge  over looks the  landscaped gardens, were you can take in the aromas of many herbs of  lavender, rosemary and thyme. mature olive trees, palm trees, lemon and orange trees which all add to your first experience of breakfast in Greece…If you are an early riser then you will see the goats go pass the gate and they normally stop to say……Kalimeria

The house is designed for outdoor living and Al fresco entertaining. We have a full-size barbecue with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and sink. A  large wooden table that seats 6 -8 people, which is shaded by the olive trees, from here you have  views of the coastline and the sea.   A wooden pergola offers shade to the comfy seating area where your can sit and relax, enjoy  a drink, watch the evening meal sizzling away on the barbecue or just  enjoy the stunning sunsets.

The house has it’s own private driveway for parking  and we do recommend hiring a car so that you can take full advantage of the  many wonderful places to visit locally.

On the lower level of the house there is  a lounge with a double sofa bed , a television,  a wood burning stove which heats the whole house in the winter months , a kitchenette with fully fitted wooden  units, a  fridge/freezer, an electric  cooker,  a microwave, coffee machine and  juice blender.  There is  small wet room with a toilet , a wash basin and  a shower attachment on the wall.

Marble stairs lead up to the upper level where there is a  bedroom with a double bed, bedside cabinets, double wardrobe with drawers ,  an en-suite shower room with a shower, toilet and washbasin. From the bedroom french doors with fitted mosquito doors lead out to balconies. The front balcony has views of the Taygetos Mountains and the Messinias coastline, from the side balcony you have stunning views of the Kardamyli coastline where there are fantastic views of the Mani sunsets.

Proastio is a 40-60 minute drive from Kalamata airport, from the airport it is an amazing journey through  traditional Greek villages with stunning views of the mountains and the coastline many visitors cannot resist stopping at the viewpoint overlooking Kardamyli to take their first holiday selfies.

The house is only a short drive to the  pebbled coves at Kalimitsi and only 5km to the picturesque coastal resort of Kardamyli with shops and taverns and its long stretch of pebbled beach, at Ritsa where you will find the famous Elies Beach Taverna.  A 10-minute drive will take you to the to the tourist resort of Stoupa and Kalogria with their Sandy Beaches . Should you prefer a white stony pebbled cove, straight out of Jason and the Argonauts then Forneas is the beach for you it is located down a short walking track down from the Kardamyli to Stoupa road.  Drive a little further and you will come to the charming harbour village of Agios Nikolaos a must for all visitors.

My son Austin and I have been going to Bonnie's Place in Proastio for many years, We love taking the short drive to the many different Beaches, we either go to Stoupa or Kalogria for the sandy beaches or Forneas and Kardamyli for the pebble beach. The house is designed for al-fesco living and we have great Barbecues. One year my son went out with a friend of Bonnie's, a local fisherman and caught some fish, we cooked it for our evening meal. Sitting in the garden with the sun and the views of the sea eating fresh fish and drinking white wine until the sunsets. Life does not get better than this

We as a family of 4, stay at Bonnie’s Place every year, it really is a home from home touch! Bonnie has made the best use of the space from inside to outside. Inside you have a double bed upstairs with en-suite and down stairs a double pull out sofa bed and downstairs toilet facilities , You can make use of outside by having dinners with the amazing outdoor kitchen/BBQ area and enough room to entertain comfortably a group of people! Or stay inside and have a family meal on the balcony taking in the stars or the sunshine. Great mosquito nets on all the doors and windows and in the evening a cool breeze from the mountains is exactly what you need! The views are amazing, the walks are stunning and there is enough to do there with walks, horse riding nearby and exploring! The beach is about a 10 minute drive down the mountain or you can walk it if you have the energy! Thanks Bonnie we will be back, as you know.
